  7. What we've learned since is that this DB2/COBOL program is using up all below the line storage (9M) and then getting the ABEND878.
  8. The program was compiled with AMODE(31) RMODE(any).
  9. However, changing this does not solve why we are going below the line and using up the 9MB available there.

Perhaps another cause of the problem is that the program has managed to pick up incorrect data from somewhere when it imagined the data represented an amount of needed storage.
