I decided to test it quickly and found that indeed that a tag level cfquery timeout did work. pls help...thanks.. removed the quotes and the problem is gone. That is, you'd be replacing the CFQUERY block one day with a CFSTOREDPROC call...perhaps even surrounded in a CFTHREAD.

My understanding has been that the query level timeout would work only when using the SQL Server driver, and otherwise has no effect. In that respect, I appreciate that some have offered here the specifics of the platforms they are testing things on. I was looking at SQL Server connections that use the "Other" data source type.
